torque is developed by the M HYBRID system of the BMW XM. It consists of a new V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission.

High performance is electrified: For the first time, an M vehicle with an M TwinPower Turbo V8-cylinder petrol engine will be equipped with plug-in hybrid technology. The M hybrid drive of the BMW XM stands for pure driving pleasure, superior power development and the distinctive M-typical sound. Thanks to the virtuoso interplay with a 120 kW electric motor, the 360 kW (489 hp) 4.4-liter V8 of the BMW XM pushes irrepressibly forward – not least thanks to two turbochargers, fully variable valve control Valvetronic and High Precision Injection. The system output of the BMW XM is 480 kW (653 hp). The new M Hybrid button in the center console allows you to choose between HYBRID, ELECTRIC and eCONTROL modes. In all-electric mode, the BMW XM can drive more than 80 kilometers purely electrically and thus with zero local emissions.
